Finding Your Creative Outlet
(A work in progress…)
The word create can be defined as bringing something into existence or causing something to come into existence. A creator or creative will simply be defined as one who creates. The world revolves around creativity and was in fact, formed out of this creativity. Each moment new ideas arise and are brainstormed until they are then created in our physical world. However, the productivity of these ideas and whether they live or die fall into the will of the creator. The individual yields the power to create.
The United States of America is founded on the principle, “In God We Trust” which is printed across all the nation’s currency, and in 1956 under President Eisenhower because of the nation’s motto. This motto ties the United States to the initial creator, Jesus Christ, also known as God. Not god. Big God. America is also a democracy and not a theocracy, but has many biblical principles applied which has allowed the nation to become quite successful.
In the Christian faith, the principle of beginning starts with God. “In the beginning God.” It is here that God begins to form and fashion the world from nothing. As the story progresses, he creates man, and he does so out of his own image, and from man he then creates woman. In the gospels of the bible we find God walking the earth among the fruit of his creation. After he dies for the sins of the people of the world, he then gives us his spirit under simple instructions. If one is to repent and be baptized then they will receive the spirit of God, and thus inherit the creativity of God.
Express creativity – the arts – the way people express their creativity. Art is subjective
Creation is a verb, whereas something must be done, and it is in action. When creation is in action, the result is often called art. This is where many get confused or even “turned off” to the idea of creating. The main reason this happens is because many don’t see what they’re doing as artistic or art at all. This is where art gets its subjectivity from, which is seen from many angles. On one side of the subjectivity of art, there are individuals who have created something and look to others to place a value on the work that they have done. The other side of this subjectivity is in the person who is the creator.
The main issue with this (in my opinion) is that we have defined what creativity is, and how one should create. Throughout time art has been defined my people who “see the world differently,” yet we would all argue that there are no two people the same. If that is the case, then art should be in everything we do, and not just what we place art in. Traditionally, art is defined through three categories: Paintings, architectural, and sculptural. However, as mankind has progress theatre, film, music, dance, as well as many more have found their way into the arts.
So my only desire is that you break down your perceived ideas of what creativity is and go make something. Literally anything. You can create from chaos or create from structure. If you desire to learn to work with would, develop a sketch of what you want the dresser to look like and attempt to build it. However if you aren’t that creative, there is a way you can build the dresser from someone else’s proven How-To-Build guide and you will have a dresser after you follow the process.
If you desire to create, it is because creativity is within you. Go be great!
